Yerba Mate is a roasted leaf from a South American species of holly. Our Yerba Mate Latte is an exquisite rich cocoa blend of Brazilian yerba mate, cocoa, cactus flowers, almonds, and full-bodied rooibos. A deep cocoa flavored brew. Mate’ is an herbal but does have caffeine. Yerba mate’ has as much caffeine as a typical cup of coffee.
Delicious enjoyed with or without milk.
Depending upon tea leaf size, 1 oz of tea brews about 8-10 cups of tea.
Not part of the tea plant, instead mate’ falls under the herbal category but is our only caffeine-containing herbal. Mate’ is also rich in vitamin C and antioxidants. Several years ago it was a privilege to host an Argentinian tea party during our Cultural Tea Party held every August. We were so intrigued by our special guest, a pastor from Argentina now living in Kansas City, who runs an urban mission inside one of the deepest cores of poverty and need in Kansas City.
He taught us the beautiful way in which Argentinians drink and enjoy mate’ on a daily basis. How the brew the leaves and how they communicate through the time they drink mate’ in fellowship.
